Curt was born and raised in Topeka, on the same street as Governor Laura Kelly and Secretary Kathleen Sebelius. He went to Topeka public schools and met his wife Amy in high school.
After graduating from the University of Kansas, work eventually took the Skoogs to Overland Park, where they raised their three children.
Curt was first elected to Overland Park City Council in 2005 and has served as Mayor since 2021. As Mayor, Skoog has led the resurgence of Downtown Overland Park and welcomed significant economic development and job growth, all while maintaining the state’s lowest property tax rate.

Dr. Jen Bacani McKenney is a practicing family physician in her hometown of Fredonia. She has owned and managed an independent practice alongside her father for the past 16 years. The Wilson County Health Officer as well as the Fredonia City Health Officer, Dr. McKenney is committed to community health and economic improvement initiatives.
Jen has served on the USD 484 School Board and helped establish the Fredonia Area Community Foundation and Cultivate Fredonia, a community-wide growth initiative.
She graduated from the University of Kansas and attended medical school at the University of Kansas Medical Center and then at the School of Medicine in Wichita. She completed her family medicine residency at Via Christi in Wichita.
